Finding Homes for 100,000 Homeless Americans

The 100,000 Homes Campaign brings together change agents from across the country to find and house 100,000 of the country’s most vulnerable and long-term homeless individuals and families over the next three years. You can join the movement by enrolling as a Campaign community, endorsing the Campaign or volunteering with your local effort. You can also donate to Common Ground.

More from 100,000 Homes:

“This is a crucial moment in the history of homelessness in America.  Roughly 110,000 people are “chronically homeless,” living on the streets or shelters for a year or more.  The lethality of street homelessness is on par with some forms of cancer, cutting an average of 25 years off the lifespan.  Meanwhile, the health costs alone of leaving people on the streets far exceed the cost of supportive housing.  Despite this daunting reality, some communities have made tremendous progress in housing their most vulnerable people. “

“The 100,000 Homes Campaign, launched by Common Ground, brings together change agents from across the country to find homes for 100,000 of the most vulnerable and long-term homeless individuals and families by July 2013.  It is designed to fundamentally alter our response to chronic homelessness by giving communities concrete tools and connecting the change agents with one another so no one has to innovate alone.”
